{4:00pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +68 on Billy's BMT calendar. We have no counts to report today, But since this is a new page, I will draw your attention to what the Normal blood counts levels are:
WBC: 4.0 - 10.5
RBC: 4.20 - 5.60
Hemoglobin: 12.5 - 16.1
Platelets: 150.000 - 450.000
I asked Billy if it would be alright if I took a photo, and placed it on his web site, so that you all could see how he looks; Billy is really "not" liking the way he looks due to the Prednisone (steroid) he is taking. We assured him that he looks OK, but it is obvious that he doesn't look as he did prior to the steroid use. It is true he looks totally different because of the extreme "puffyness" in his face, and torso, but he is still Billy*wink*. He just doesn't want his photo taken at this point. So, for those of you who are eager to see another photo of Billy, I would suggest that you have a bit of patience, and I'll see what I can do *wink*
We would like to Thank Jay Lender, for the GREAT SpongeBob drawing that Billy received today, He LOVES IT!! Thank you.

{4:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +70 on Billy's BMT calendar. Todays counts are: WBC @ 4.8, RBC @ 3.47, Hemoglobin @ 12.5, platelets @ 27,000. ANC @ 3,800. This morning's visit to the Hospital Clinic was uneventful, and Billy's counts are at good levels at this stage in Billy's Bone Marrow Transplant. Billy had his medi-port flushed this morning as well. His medi-port hasn't been used for the infusion of all his meds, if you remember*wink*, he had a Broviac Catheter installed for the administration of his drugs, and for his blood tests to be done, so his medi-port has to be cleared once a month to keep it open for future use. Can you believe it has been 70 days already since the transplant? Although it has gone fairly quickly, it has been an exhausting 70 days*wink*. Billy's weight is up to 39kg / 85lbs, and he is feeling a bit down on himself because of the way he is looking. He does know that it will all be a thing of the past after his steroids are discontinued, but in the meantime, he is avoiding the mirror!!

{7:00pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +72 on Billy's BMT calendar. We hope this update finds you all well. Billy is doing very good, and asked me to once again express his gratitude for all that you've done on his behalf. Billy hasn't had any other sign's indicating his GVHD is getting any worse, and once again, we'll reduce the dosage of his Prednisone (steroid) to 14mg x 4 times per day. Billy's final day of school was yesterday, and Billy said, "now what am I going to do?" He really wants to get on with it, and get over with it. We are going to try and get Billy outside more often, now that school is over, he really miss's fishing. Dr. Petrovic said it would be OK for him to go fishing, as long as he is not in contact with others, and he doesn't touch the fish he may catch. Therefore, We are gonna try and get out to do some fishing early next week*wink*.

{4:00pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +74 on Billy's BMT calendar. Todays counts are: WBC @ 4.0, RBC @ 3.43, Hemoglobin @ 12.2, platelets @ 11,000. ANC @ 3,300.
I hope this update finds you ALL in good spirits. As you can see by the counts (above), Billy had a Clinic visit this morning. Billy's platelets were low, so he received a platelet transfusion at around noon. Billy's other counts remain stable (although low), and Dr. Petrovic is very happy with Billy's condition this far into the bone marrow transplant. Dr. Petrovic also informed us that she will re-formulate Billy's Prednisone (steroid) levels, and will wean him off the drug sooner than previously scheduled. She will be faxing us the NEW schedule this afternoon. Dr. Petrovic was in a conference for the past week, and Billy's case study was a major part of what was talked about by her, and her fellow Doctors.

Please Pray for Billy.........................

{2:00pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +76 on Billy's BMT calendar.
Another Beautiful Day In Paradise, wish you were here!! Yes, we did get outside today, and Yes, we did get some fishing in. We did take a few photo's as well, and Billy doesn't know that I have posted this one here. Before you view the photo, please understand that Billy looks alot different than the previous photo's you've seen, and he really didn't want me to post any photo's of him looking this way. Alicia, Billy, and I went to "The Pier" for a few hours this morning (9am-11am), before it got too hot outside. We got a few "bites", and Billy managed to catch a blue crab, but all in all, we had a wonderful time outdoors which Billy enjoyed "Totally". Now for the photo, CLICK HERE to see Billy in a "Quite Moment".
Billy chipped a tooth this morning while having breakfast, and not wanting to take any chances, Dr. Petrovic made an appointment for Billy this afternoon at 2:30 with the Dentist. All of the chemo, and medications Billy has taken over the past 20 months can have a negative effect on growing teeth.

Please Pray for Billy.........................

{6:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +77 on Billy's BMT calendar. Todays counts are: WBC @ 4.1, RBC @ 3.40, Hemoglobin @ 12.3, platelets @ 30,000. ANC @ 3,100.
I hope this update finds you all in good spirits. Billy is doing just fine, and today's visit to the Clinic was uneventful. Dr. Petrovic is still so very optimistic with Billy, and his steady progress in his bone marrow transplant process. Billy's visit to the Dentist yesterday was also uneventful. The chipped tooth was one of the few "baby teeth" still in Billy's mouth!! Dr. Petrovic prescribed another antibiotic, for 3 days, just in case there should be a problem with infection. Billy's Dentist was happy to say that Billy's oral hygiene is in excellent condition, and nothing to worry about *wink*. Alicia has taken a few much needed days "Off", and has gone down to Miami to spend the weekend with her Brother Juani, his Wife Guaydia, and their New baby Girl Adriana. This will be the first time Alicia has been able to see her (in person).

I would like to share something with all of you, Billy's Friends, from around the World. We received Billy's Final Grades for the School year, and the 6th Grade. Billy received Straight A's again, and we couldn't possibly be more Proud of Him, than we are at this time. After all that Billy has gone through, both physically and emotionally, he has never altered his trane of thought when it came to his studies. We would like to share with you, some of the comments that Billy's Teachers noted on His report card.
"Billy is to be commended for his amazing work ethic, and positive attitude during very difficult, and challenging circumstances. It was a pleasure to Teach Him."

{2:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +81 on Billy's BMT calendar. Todays counts are: WBC @ 3.8, RBC @ 3.30, Hemoglobin @ 11.9, platelets @ 19,000. ANC @ 2,900.
This morning's visit to the Hospital Clinic was uneventful, although during our 5 hour visit Billy received another round of Pantamadine (1 1/2 hour infusion), and 8 units of Platelets, which also took about an hour to infuse. Billy was very "un-easy", and didn't show very much patience during this unusually long Clinic visit. Billy ordered lunch while there (vegetable lasagna), and this seemed to ease the tension a bit. Dr. Petrovic showed some concern today as to the level in Billy's cholesterol. The steroids have alot to do with it, but she would like to alter Billy's diet once again. His sugar level's were also elevated somewhat, in his urine sample. All in All, Billy is doing just fine, and Dr. Petrovic is very happy at what she see's in his tests. Billy is scheduled for another dose of IVIG on his next Clinic visit on Thursday. Alicia just called and said she was on her way home now, and that she had a wonderful visit with her "new" niece in Miami!! We can't wait to see her, we really miss here *wink*.
