{2:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +95 on Billy's BMT calendar. Today's counts are: WBC @ 2.40, RBC @ 3.04, Hemoglobin @ 11.2, platelets @ 24,000. ANC @ 1,500.
Once again, here are what the Normal blood counts levels are:
WBC: 4.0 - 10.5
RBC: 4.20 - 5.60
Hemoglobin: 12.5 - 16.1
Platelets: 150.000 - 450.000
I hope this update finds you all in good spirits. Billy's visit to the Clinic this morning was met with a bit of puzzling circumstances. Dr. Petrovic has decided that a Bone Marrow Biopsy will not be needed after all. The Bone Marrow Aspiration that was done last week showed that Billy was indeed 100% donor, and the blood cultures that were done showed no signs of infections in Billy's blood. The CYTOGENETICS results are due back today, but Dr. Petrovic has already told us that the trans-location of #1, and #21 chromosome's were corrected with the bone marrow transplant 95 days ago, so we don't expect to see this abnormality in the results from last weeks aspiration. Dr. Petrovic is happy with what she see's in Billy's counts, and attributes the low counts to some of the Immunosuppressive drugs that Billy is constantly taking, and can not stop taking anytime soon. Billy's intake of Prednisone (steroid) is now down to 8mg x 4 times per day, and should be over by the middle of July. Billy's face and torrso are still a bit swollen because of them, but are starting to slowly return to normal.
I will update you all later, as to the results of the CYTOGENETICS, as soon as they become known to us *wink*.
Thank you all once again, for your continued Support, Thoughts, and Prayers.

Please Pray for Billy.........................

{4:00pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +97 on Billy's BMT calendar. Today's counts are: WBC @ 2.80, RBC @ 3.02, Hemoglobin @ 11.3, platelets @ 33,000. ANC @ 1,700.
What a difference a day makes in the world of cancer. Billy's visit to the Clinic this morning showed a fairly good increase in counts.......fairly good *wink*. Billy's platelets jumped 9,000, as you can see; and Dr. Petrovic is pleased to see this, as are we. We still haven't received the CYTOGENETICS results yet, but Dr. Petrovic see's no signs to make her believe that the molecular level scan is nothing but CLEAR. Billy is in good spirits, and has been exercising his mind the past few days by building wooden model ships. Again, Billy really doesn't like the fact that I have posted photo's (recent) of him on his web site, so lets keep it a secret, OK. *wink*. You can click HERE to see the photo if you like.

{4:00pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +99 on Billy's BMT calendar. Today's counts are: WBC @ 3.60, RBC @ 3.06, Hemoglobin @ 11.6, platelets @ 22,000. ANC @ 2,200.
Although the platelets are down a bit from Wednesdays results, the other counts are up some what. Dr. Petrovic wants Billy in to the Clinic again tomorrow morning to be re-tested again. Dr. Petrovic wants to see what the platelets are at tomorrow, then decide to give Billy a transfusion if the platelets are at or below 20,000. Billy also had his cholesterol re-checked again today, and we should have some results back soon. I took another photo this morning as Billy and Alicia we off to the Clinic. If you'd like to see it, you can click HERE.

{7:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +100 on Billy's BMT calendar. Can you believe it? Today is the 100th day since Billy's bone marrow transplant was performed; I can. Although Billy's health has been pretty much stable, for the past few weeks, we are constantly reminded that the life saving procedure that was done, can suddenly turn ugly without notice. Although we are constantly re-assured by all those involved in Billy's care, that Billy is doing remarkably well for someone at this stage in the transplant process. Although we are showing the wear and tear of someone who has, for the past 23 months, lived with the possibilities that their only child may lose this battle due to any number of complications. Although we have been somewhat isolated from the rest of the world for the better part of the past 2 years. Although we go to sleep at night, with one eye open, and one ear awaiting the first sound to break the silence. Although we wake every morning, never together. Although we are optimistic, in all aspects of the word. Although we have had some positive things to report, there are those who have none. Although...........is always part of the sentence. Please pray for Our Dear Friend Garrett, who at 13 years old, is once again faced with the return of his cancer. Garrett started his fight a few months before Billy, and was Billy's 1st room mate when Billy was hospitalized for the 1st time. Although Garrett was full of Hope, on more than one occasion, once again he is facing the unknown. Although Billy is doing "pretty good", there are so many more that aren't. Please hold Garrett in your Hearts, and Pray for him as you do Billy. Although.........................

Happy Birthday Aunt Ana!
{2:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +102 on Billy's BMT calendar. Today's counts are: WBC @ 2.90, RBC @ 2.74, Hemoglobin @ 10.2, platelets @ 20,000. ANC @ 1,800.
FYI: The water temp. at St. Pete. Beach is up to 89° already, thats like bath water *wink*. Billy's counts remain fairly stable, although on the low side of the scale. Billy received another round of Pantamadine (1 1/2 hour infusion) this morning, and had his Broviac Catheter dressing changed as well. Dr. Petrovic is still very optimistic in what she see's in Billy's progress. Being that Billy's platelets are at 20,000 (the magic number), Billy will have to be checked again on this Wednesday to be sure they don't fall any further. If they do fall below 20k, Billy will have another platelet transfusion either Wed., or on Thursdays visit to the Clinic. Billy's next IVIG infusion is also scheduled for this Thursday morning. If all goes as planned, Billy should be off the Prednisone (steroid) by this time next month *wink*, Billy is really missing his Cat (Kitty). They have been kept apart for the past 3 1/2 months, and Dr. Petrovic doesn't want Billy to have any contact with her until he is OFF the steroids! Hang in there Buddy!!

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

Michael D. and Billy{2:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +103 on Billy's BMT calendar.
Billy was visited by his good Friend Michael D. This afternoon. It has been a while since Billy and Michael have seen each other, and really enjoyed the few hours they spent together today. They have been class mates all through their grade school years, and Billy would have been in a few of Michael's class's this past school year as well. Billy hopes that he'll be able to visit with Michael again real soon (hint)!
Billy has been feeling pretty weak the past few days due to the lack of red blood cell's, as well as the low Hemoglobin counts. Tomorrow's visit to the Clinic will dictate if Billy will get a transfusion or not. In yesterday's update, I pointed out that Billy's platelets were at the "low limit" at 20,000, and that if they fell lower he would need a transfusion of platelets. We are hoping that Billy's red counts are up a bit in tomorrow's results, Fingers Crossed *wink*.

Please Pray for Billy.........................and ALL children of cancer.

{6:30pm}Welcome back to Billy's Page. Today is Day +104 on Billy's BMT calendar. Today's counts are: WBC @ 2.90, RBC @ 2.84, Hemoglobin @ 10.4, platelets @ 20,000. ANC @ 1,900.
Billy had a pretty good day today, and didn't need to have a platelet transfusion because his counts held at 20,000. Billy will be at the Clinic again tomorrow, bright and early for his next round of IVIG, and we all know that that is a 4-5 hour Clinic visit for the transfusion; All in the day of a cancer patient.

I want to point out that our Friend Whitney has a new web site URL, so if you have bookmarked her site, and can't access it, just click on her link below I have updated the URL.
